One of the Centenary Ball's headline acts, Vernon Kay, has pulled out of the event due to unforeseen TV commitments.

I only bought my summer ball ticket because of my mild Vernon fetish - can I get a refund??

This is totally unacceptable! They must have known Vernon Kay was not coming for a while now. Yet the union carried on advertising with the same line up. I think who ever was responsible for the line up should be shot, they clearly aren't capable of doing their job and since Mr Matthews is the 'Centenary Ball Event Co-Ordinator' he probably should be first!!

With a waiting list for dinner tickets, I am sure the union will do the hounorable thing and provide anyone that wants a refund a full refund.

Oh come one, it WAS a last minute thing I'm sure. It is not a case of bad planning if an act pulls out. A replacement was rapidly found with, what, 8 days left?

Surely this is a good thing!

I sincerely doubt that many people chose to go because they wanted to see Vernon Kay.... especially seeing how bloody annoying he is.

In the end, the success of the ball depends on more important factors than what random celebs are going to be there...... That's just the icing on the cake, and lets you brag to your mates at UCL or Kings about how rubbish the yare.

"and lets you brag to your mates at UCL or Kings about how rubbish they are"

Bragging to mates at Kings will be a lot easier this year seeing as they had to cancel their ball...

They knew far in advance that Vernon had cancelled.

So I've been told.

Jun 12 2007 12:29

As far as I know they knew a matter of days before the announcement was made. In which time they executed a speedy change in line up. Very well handled in my opinion.

i heard pendulum have cancelled as well, is this true?

Jun 14 2007 16:04

Pendulum have NOT cancelled. I have no idea where this rumour came from but it is completely untrue.

Numbers are now reaching capacity and online sales will stop at midnight tomorrow so if you have yet to buy your ticket, do so soon!

Jun 16 2007 01:05

Does anyone really care that Vernon Kay isn't going to be there. I prefer Alex Zanes long hair and boyish looks anyhow.
