New CivSoc Officers Elected

Nov 15 2007 10:05
Nick Simpson
Finally all the positions in CivSoc have been filled for this year, good news all round with fresh faces on the committee.
Left: Nikhil Sehmi, Right: Douglas White

At the beginning of term we had a couple of positions still to be filled in CivSoc, namely publicity officer and treasurer. Elections for the new positions ran alongside those for other positions in the Union during the past month and we have the results for you!

Running uncontested for the position of treasurer, Nekhil Sehmi kept Re-Open Nominations at bay to take the spot. The competition for publicity was a little hotter though, in fact it was a contested position making everything a little more exciting. All in all there were three candidates, from fourth year there was Tom Brodrick, from third year, Douglas White and from second year, Henry Painter, oh and naturally RON ran as well. The result went to Douglas White who as such becomes the new publicity officer.

While this means all the positions in this year’s CivSoc committee are now full, it doesn’t mean you can’t get involved. As one of the more active departmental societies about we are always up to something and more than likely need a helping hand! Just corner one of the officers to learn more.

If you are still chomping on the bit for a committee position though, the elections for next year’s committee will be ran in Spring Term and CivSoc will have a session where you can chat to current officers to see what the roles really involve.
