Finally, the inter-year 5-a-side football league has begun. Civil Engineering Second, Third and Fourth Year teams warmed up in Ethos on the 29th of January 2008 before the games began. Everyone was very energetic and ready to show others what they were made of. The game between the Fourth Years and the Second Years started at 6.00pm with aggressive attacks from both sides. With adrenaline coursing through their veins, people were sprinting up and down the courts in the first few minutes. Even though the Fourth Years managed to score an opening goal, they were quickly levelled by a magnificent goal from the Second Years. The score was 2-2 a couple of minutes into the game but the Fourth Years proceeded to score two goals in quick succession, providing an indication of what is to come. With their indomitable spirit, attacks from the Fourth Years became more aggressive. This culminated in Fourth Year Omar scoring three quick goals with his powerful kicks, thereby bringing the scores to 5-4. The game eventually ended with 6-4 amidst much cheering from everyone in the Fourth Team.
Although the Second Years suffered a defeat, they kept their fighting spirit as they still had a game with the Third Years. The second game of the day, between the Second Years and the Third Years, commenced immediately after the first one. With fresh bodies and minds, the Third Years had an edge over the Second Years. In particular, the Second Year ?keeper did a fantastic job in saving all the shots fired by the Third Years. Although the Third Years managed to take the lead at the beginning, they were quickly overwhelmed by the aggressive attacks. five goals were eventually scored by our determined Second Years in a row, culminating in a final score of 5-1.
