RSS feeds, also known simply as "news feeds", are a way to make news and other information come to you. Rather than visiting lots of different websites every day to see if there's anything new, you can be told when they are updated.

At the heart of RSS is a "feed reader" - you can get these as programs to install on your PC, or web-based ones which you can view wherever you have an internet connection. Within your feed reader you can "subscribe" to many websites, then use that rather than visiting the websites all the time.
