Tsunami Appeal Update

Following the start of the tsunami appeal yesterday initial indications are fantastic!
A large response as captured in an inbox

Following the Launch of the RAG and C&G appeal in a meeting held on Tuesday all involved have been taken aback at the response which has being fantastic.

At the time of writing over 60 tins have being issued leading to a second trolley load being brought out of storage in the depths of the union to facilitate the current demand.

Despite this huge response RAG are hopeful that yet more people will come forward and help out in whatever way they can whether that be counting money, shaking tins, helping with the administration or being around to help with the large number of odd jobs that need doing most of the time.

To offer your services to the appeal just email .uk, to help around the office put 'administration' as the subject, alternativly you can just pop into the City and Guilds office (Room 340 Mech Eng) and make yourself know. The office is manned most of the day.

Any Clubs and Societies organising events are invited to contact so that an overall view of what is happening college wide is known and so that rag can help out, regardless of the charity being supported by a particular society, with any aspects that may be unfamiliar to the clubs.

An up to date list of what is known to rag can be found here

Fingers crossed, we should soon have some celebrity help for the appeal soon.

As I take the opportunity to promote ULU's elections (assuming I have worked out how to put a link on here!), it's great to see the money still rolling in across London for the tsunami appeal - the response have been fantastic! Everywhere!

ULU are always good for a laugh.

"Being a membership-based and driven organisation, ULU is campaigning to encourage PARTICIPATION of our members in all fields of the local, national and internation COMMUNITY. ULU believes that our members are the future of this planet and we believe that only by EMPOWERING them with knowledge and education can we increase INVOLVMENT thereby ENGAGING our members more. Part of the P.I.E.C.E. Campaign is to let our member know about our own elections, not only encouraging them to stand for election, but also to vote."

Well I am already fed up with ULU. First of all they subscribed me to their sms and e-mail service, and now they are posting SPAM on live!

I am glad my threat of reporting them to ICT for sending me SPAM had me removed from their list quicker than I was added. When will they learn most of us don't give a damn what they do up at ULU?

Jan 29 2005 11:53

Quite why anyone would feel the need to hijack this article to promote ULU Farce!s is beyond me.

It is a discrace to belittle the hard work of a large number of people in helping out this cause by starting a mindless debate into the petty politics of London universities.

RAG have not worked non stop for the past 4 weeks to give ULU or anyone else a free opportunity to publicise themselves on a completly unrelated matter.

For those reading this article for the reason it was written (To find out about the Tsunami appeal) the total has reached over £5000.

Yes, it's time to get ULU sorted out. Get Mustafa elected ULU President...
