ICU Elections Today

Feb 26 2001 11:05
Dinesh Ganesarajah
What are those random ballot boxes around college?
Don't forget to vote!

Monday 26th / Tuesday 27th sees the ICU Elections taking place, for the first time using Departmental Lists rather than Union Cards. Under this system students will be able to vote in their department without having to obtain a Union card.

The use of Departmental Lists was used in the CGCU Elections last year and is thought to be part of the reason for the increased turnout -- achieving 20% turnout over the 10% from the previous year. Departmental Lists had been in use for a long time in Departmental Elections DepReps and DepSocs.

News on the candidates standing and other election information can be found at http://www.su.ic.ac.uk/elections and in Felix.

How come the 'news blackout' regarding ICU elections on the Guilds web site has suddenly gone?

Did someone in the Union sit on Dinesh? Ha ha ha ha.

There has been no black out. It's just that:

  • there was nothing interesting to report before
  • I almost got into trouble with election coverage last year, and am staying well out of it this year
