The CGCU bar night saw many willing volunteers auctioned for RAG, with the average bid per canidate being well over £20. Henri Ozarovsky was chosen as auctioneer for his amazing ability to work the crowd and certainly gave an impressive performance.
Some of the first volunteers included Sanjeev Sarda and Mustafa Arif. Tom Elliott had his sideburns shaved off raising over £120 for RAG and this led on to Adam Roper from motor club and Sid Singh from Guildsheet also having huge amounts of hair removed. Mr Elliot paid a small fortune to keep his eyebrow but Mr Singh raised a huge amount by losing one (he is reportedly now completely bald rather than the patchy mess he was left in). Mr Roper rapped a memorable commentary of the shavings in his own unique style.
Felix Editor Dave Edwards was contested between Martin Smith of Broadsheet (Physical Sciences News Letter) and Sid Singh of Guildsheet and was eventually won by Mr Singh to edit media groups annual edition of Gulix (a Felix spoof). We wish all the best of luck to Medics President Lucy Pickard who was purchased by a group of rugby players.
When RSM President John Sykes took to the podium he seemed worryingly keen to remove his trousers and show off the large frilly pink knickers he’d chosen to wear and this raised his value considerably. Quincy Allan, also of RSM, raised £100 by downing a yard of cider.
The crowd offered a huge £200 for RAG Chair Chris Jackson to pole dance around his beloved in nothing but his underpants, but Mr. Jackson rose the bid to £205 and the auction was closed for the sake of Mr. Jackson’s bank account.
The evening drew to a close with the CGCU President being auctioned to perform an interesting task along with the RSM President which raised over £280.
Huge respect is due to Mr Collins and Mr Sykes for going through with the task in hand and with the speed at which they can both run while under pressure.
