The Annual C&G Quiz night was won by the ICU RAG Team, who played the DoC team , where the score was 10-0
Guilds Quiz - University Challenge Style

With a Southside full of engineering geeks and RSM drunks the scene was set for a University Challenge style quiz. With Mr. Oliver Pell, Guilds Maestro and ISE 5 was quiz master and Siddharth Singh, Guildsheet Editor the trusted assistant with all the difficult questions. The quiz was set to test which was the best department at Imperial College and included participation by both the Medics and Physical Sciences Union as well as Departmental Societies from Guilds.

The evening was poised with regular heckling and audience participation, with the RSM's traditional drinking songs and Guilds "Boomerlaka" making a show at the right moments. The quiz itself was centered on topics ranging from Politics, Geography, to Latin and the Classics. The system worked on 1 starter question followed by 3 bonuses which included a picture round. Students fought with questions on Hieroglyphics and Phobias.

In the early starters, the Medics team which included a previous member of the actual Imperial College University Challenge team has a strong showings. Other notables were from the ISE and DoC teams. The top 8 teams from the 1st round moved on to face of each other in the next round. Where the results were as follows:

DOC bt. Aero (45-20)

ICSM bt. ISE (45-40)

RAG bt. DramSoc (40-20)

Exec bt. Motor (50-0)

We then had the final set with some nail-biting last minute answers at the quiz between DoC and the Medics, whilst the IC RAG team beat the CGCU Exec team quite comprehensively.

DOC bt. ICSM (35-30)

RAG bt. Exec (35- -10)

The Annual C&G Quiz night was won by the ICU RAG Team, who played the DoC team in the final round, where the score was 10-0. The prize for the winners included some cheap Valentines Day cr*p.

Special mentions to Mr. Chris Mciver, for making the show possible and keeping on top of the chaos, Mr. John Collins for creating the chaos. The great success of the show with more than 100 attendees and cross-faculty participation requires that the show be repeated again next year.

The valentine's cake in the winners bag was yum, I'll let you know about the wine when we get round to drinking it!

Oh RSM.......Is wonderful....!

the wine wasn't bad either. I don't think it travels to well. However, I criticise the lack of mention of the key player of the night....Chris..the collecting tin who did not get stolen!

The last paragraph doesn't make any sense.

RAG's other key player was of course Robin who answered all the questions, may I take this chance to say you need to know less trivia and look in the rag post box where 2 invoices await your attention.

I find that since the quiz night itself didn't make much sense, this is rather appropriate.

Its nice to see that rag are still able to creep in and use Live as a way of talking shop, having been thrown out of the C&G office

Feb 22 2005 17:03
