Guilds and Engineering DepSoc Elections Open

ATTENTION ALL ENGINEERS! Your Faculty Union and Departmental Societies need your help!
Could this be you next year?

Are you interested in giving a bit back to your Union? Do you want to pay a leading role in the largest Faculty Union at Imperial College next year? Do you want a distraction from your degree next year and brownie points for your CV? Then now is the time to volunteer!

Nominations have now opened for the following City & Guilds College Union Elections:

* President

* Vice President (Activities)

* Vice President (Finance & Services)

* Honorary Secretary

* Academic Affairs Officer (Taught Students)

* Academic Affairs Officer (Research Students)

* Welfare Officer

For more details of what each entails, the current officers can generally be found in Mech Eng room 340.

And also for the following Departmental positions:

* Departmental Representative (Taught Students)

* Departmental Society Chair (Aero Soc, Bio Eng Soc, Chem Eng Soc, DoC Soc, EE Soc, Mech Soc)

* Departmental Society Vice Chair

* Departmental Society Treasurer

* Departmental Society Secretary

* Departmental Society Industrial Liaison Officer

* Departmental Society Newsletter (For some departments)

* Departmental Society Web Editor (For some departments)

* Departmental Society Sports Officer (For some departments)

* Departmental Society Events / Activities / Social Officers (For some departments)

How to stand for election:

Fill in a nomination form before 12pm on Friday 4th March. These are located in the following areas of the College:

  1. All Departments = Noticeboard opposite the C&G Office
  2. Aeronautics = Year 4 Noticeboard
  3. BioEngineering = Noticeboard opposite lifts outside the Bagrit Centre
  4. Chemical Engineering = Common Room (Adjacent to Lecture Theatre 1)
  5. Civil Engineering = Common Room
  6. Computing = Walkway Level Foyer to the Huxley Building, close to the Maths Department Noticeboards
  7. Earth Science & Engineering = Noticeboard outside RSM Office
  8. Electrical Engineering = Foyer (Large Red Noticeboard)
  9. Materials = Earth Science & Engineering = Noticeboard outside RSM Office
  10. Mechanical Engineering = The Orange Room

Deliver this form to the C&G Office (Room 340 Mechanical Engineering) by 12pm, Friday 4th March

Come to the candidates' meeting at 1pm in the C&G Office on Friday 4th March.

Campaign!

Hustings

Try to wow some voters in person; and if you're not standing, come and hear what the candidates have to say, and question them. Currently scheduled for March 8th, 12-2pm, in dB's.

Voting

Voting will take place online, March 10th-14th, with e-voting booths to be placed in some departments. Results will then be announced at the Guilds AGM, which will also elect some other positions including Chairman and Guildsheet Editor.

The caption refers, of course, to the individual to the right of the picture. I had considered adding a big red arrow but decided that would look exceedingly cheesy.
