The full list of candidates has been announced for the upcoming City & Guilds Elections 2005. This year, the races for C&G President and Honorary Secretary look set to be close, with 3 candidates running for President and 2 for Honorary Secretary. Also impressive are the number of people in the running for CivSoc , with almost all positions being contested, and most positions being filled. There was, however, a disappointing lack of people running for some departments' Academic Representation positions.
There are the following candidates for the central C&G Executive positions:
- President: Sanjeev SARDA / Siddharth (Sid) SINGH / Aaisha LATIF
- Vice President (Activities): Matthew TAYLOR
- Vice President (Finance & Societies): Chris MCIVER
- Honorary Secretary: Zaki Mohammed NUSEIBEH / Yun Ju ROH
- Academic Affairs Officer (Taught): Vidula VINAYADAMOORTHY
- Welfare Officer: Eirini SPENTZA
Re-Open Nominations is also a candidate for all these positions.
Hustings
Next to look forward to is the Hustings. There are two Hustings scheduled this year, both on Tuesday 8th March. The first, between 12noon and 2pm, will take place in dB?s, during which there will be free Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The second Hustings will then be an evening Hustings, taking place between 7:30 and 11pm, in the Union Bar, with free drinks being available.
Voting
Also, new to this year, following the success of trials within Imperial College Union, is the use of Online Voting in C&G Elections. Polls open at midday on Thursday 10th March, and close at midday on Monday 14th March.
