Union officers visited Wye this weekend for training and to visit the newly refurbished bar. Head of Student Services Robin Pitt has been at Wye over the past few months leading the refurbishment programme, which was delivered on time and slightly under budget.
A few finishing touches remain before the bar officially reopens, including the assembly of the bar furniture. This was originally planned to be completed by now, however it was delivered with the wrong screws.
The refurbishment includes a complete repaint and clean, new flooring, a new false ceiling and new bar furniture. Overall the bar has a classier feel and will now be open for longer hours, mirroring the typical South Kensington opening times. Those not up for drinking alcohol between 12 and 2 can have coffee instead, from a brand new coffee machine which is reportedly fantastic.
Wye Exec are extremely pleased with the new bar and all of the officers at training were very impressed with the result.
