The work of last year's Felix team appears on the shortlist in several categories for the Guardian Student Media awards, including Student Newspaper of the Year.
The paper, maligned last year for its trashy tabloid journalism, is up against Varsity at Cambridge, Gair Rhydd at Cardiff, Sheffield Steel Press at Sheffield and Nouse at York. Staff and students who have spoken to Live! believe that the willingness of Felix to cause controversy made for exciting reading and engaged the student population.
Former editor Rupert Neate, accused by some of making up the news or putting an over-sensationalist spin on it, is up for the Sky News Student Reporter of the Year. Neate is also in the running for Student Travel Writer of the Year.
The excellent I, Science magazine is up for Student Magazine of the Year, against Nerve at Bournemouth, Quench at Cardiff, Gum at Glasgow, Part B at LSE and Isis at Oxford.
Results will be announced on 8th November.
