The 2006 Lord Mayor's Show is nearly upon us, with a model of the Queen's Tower being built and the historic vehicles being polished. The show is watched by 500,000 people by the roadside and another twenty million on BBC One and around the world.
Construction will be taking place on Wednesday and Thursday in the evening, then on Friday afternoon and into the night. Our entry will leave the College around 08:30, with those accompanying required to be at Moorgate tube station by 10:00.
The show is kicking off the College's centenary celebrations with a Centenary-branded lorry which will carry a 3.5m high model of the Queen's Tower, accompanied by City & Guilds College Union's veteran car Boanerges. The Royal College of Science Union's motorised mascot Jezebel will also be attending.
MTSoc have offered period costumes for the event, repesenting the period from 1907-2007. If you would like to attend and wear one of the costumes, please email katie.heskins@imperial.ac.uk to arrange a fitting. Alternatively, please turn up in appropriate dress for your faculty: hard hats, lab coats or medical attire!
Anyone wishing to come, or help with construction, should email ashley.brown@imperial.ac.uk.
