This year CGCU is launching the Autumn Ball, a Centennial Celebration, open to all students in the college. Held in the vast Queen's Lawn Marquee it takes over from the more traditional Freshers' Ball of previous years.
The new event, sponsored by Worley Parsons, is the flagship of the CGCU calendar, already underway with a sell out BBQ on the first Monday of term, a packed Bar Night on Thursday and a strong stall at Freshers Fair.
The event, on Saturday 27th October will see Professor Mike Kelly, the Prince Philip Chair of Technology at Cambridge and high level government technology advisor, speak to the students after a black tie dinner. Music will be provided by home grown talent in the form of a jazz band, welcoming students as they enjoy free reception drinks.
The party is planned to continue late in to the night with a reappearance of the live jazz, a casino and live DJ. A number of sponsorship deals landed by the new Guilds committee mean the dinner ticket, including table wine, comes in at £25. Taking advantage of the new ICU website launched last year all ticket sales will be online.
Tickets can be bought online now, but hurry - sales finish on midnight Tuesday!
