This year has so far been devoid of Guildsheet, the CGCU magazine, which usually turns up in the first two weeks of term. But only today has the first issue of the year arrived. The delay was due to a complete revision of the magazine, which has gradually developed from a office-photocopier type affiar to a full colour feast and finally a magazine under last year's editor, now Guilds President, Tris Sherliker.
The new Guildsheet Editor, Nick Simpson, has moved the publication firmly back in to the realm of engineering, albeit with humourous undertones in places. While fashion pages have been scrapped for more topical articles, Guildsheet hasn't become a feature heavy equivalent to I,Science, instead it has maintained a cheeky perspective on news stories and trusty competitions to boot.
As with all union publications the true acid test is whether the student body read it. Being part of the same CGCU Media Group as Live!, Guildsheet will feature more collaborations with this very website, including online editions and a printed news section in the vein of the ever popular Snippets. Naturally it is free to students and is probably winging it's way to department common areas as you read this!
