Thursday's bar night saw representatives from the three founding colleges of Imperial College engage in a variety of drinking games.
Over 200 students - including what seemed to be a majority of miners - turned up to drink cheap (but lousy) beer, dance poorly to music worse than the beer and see the RSM President's frilly pink knickers. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this was traditional Imperial entertainment at its finest.
The Mines and RCSU Presidents, along with the Guilds VPA, each downed a yard, with the inexperienced RCS and Guilds competitors sorely lacking. The times (pre-bucket for those who care) were as follows:
- RCS: 48s
- Guilds: 45.9s
- RSM: 33.7
The freshers yard saw close competition between Mines and Guilds, with the RCSU's yard virgin trailing far behind at 37s. Guilds' fresher achieved a superb time of 21s with no spillage. The Miners claimed victory with 19s, although the 12 year old they put up to do it did spill rather a lot down his shirt.
The LINKS club stamped their authority over the 22s and CHAPS, winning the tie-club boat race hands-down. LINKS were by far the most experienced club there - the others appeared to have members with an average age of about 14.
All three violate mascots made an appearance, although Davy and Theta were tucked into corners and hidden. Spanner was the first to arrive and the last to leave, even going for a quick tour of the room at one point. The RCSU, clearly aware of their inferiority at mascotry, were the last to arrive with Theta and the first to leave.
