This year the first week of March is ICU RAG Week! Just over a week to go! Mayhem, chaos, amusement and hilarity will ensue. There are tons of events put on though out the week, all aimed at fund raising on south ken and throughout London. There’ll be tours, t-shirts, running down the up escalators, charity auctions, pieing and definitely some party fitted in somewhere.
The RAG Mag has been printed at delivered. It’s on form, presenting you with all the jokes that probably shouldn't be funny, but really are. You know the ones I’m talking about! If you’re offended in any way then the editor has done his job. RAG Mags will be on sale all week. While you’re in search of something to read have a look out for something to wear: navy blue RAG t-shirts featuring the cheeky RAG Monkey are a must this season.
The Hit Squad are also back again, this time returning to the capable hand of the CGCU. You can hire the team to do various pranks on your behalf. E-mail CGCU and put a bid in with your e-mail, if it’s high enough, they’ll do it Remember to put in the name of your suspected target and where they’ll be. Get your bids in next week!
Monday - RCSU RAG Ball
RCSU have organised dinner followed by a top London club. The dinner will be held at a venue, which will announce soon, and for afterwards they will continue on to Café du Paris. For those who haven’t been to Café du Paris it’s an outstanding club situated in Piccadilly Circus. Easy to get to and at only £7 entry for Imperial students for this event it is more than worth going out for this one. Dress code: formal/smart.
Tuesday - RSM Dinner / Pub Golf
The RSM committee is currently debating whether to host a curry night or pub golf. The March 4th is results day for the new RSM Exec, announcing who will take over from the reigning president Danny Hill. Whatever they choose to run we hope it will be massive success and no doubt lots of pints will be consumed. Oh RSM!
Wednesday - RAG Raid
The big fund-raising event of the year and an absolute must. Teams will meet at the union before heading all over London. Complete the challenges and win prizes on your return. We're allowed to collect all over, so if you think the money's on Oxford street go there or maybe the square mile is a better bet, get yourself and your team there. The list of challenges has been drawn up and with tasks ranging from a (plucky – easy) help an old lady across the road to (RAG Monkey – hard) swim the fountains in Trafalgar square / shake an MPs hand. There's something for everyone. A great day out in London, get involved!
Thursday - CGCU Slave Auction
Wanted – Your Money. Many of the varied and diverse leaders of the college unions, clubs and societies chairs, including the President himself (not confirmed) will be on sale in this charity bid auction. Punters are encouraged to come up with a suggestion to accompany their bid. All bids will go to charity. Last year Union President John Collins was made to audition for The X-Factor!
Friday - RAG Dash
On the various posters you’ll see that Nude Kamikaze Parachute Jump is advertised. I’m told that I’m not allowed to go in to details but if you think you’re man (or woman) enough to get involved, e-mail rag@ic.ac.uk.
RAG Dash is also starting on this day, the idea being to get sponsorship per mile travelled away from London. However, no money can be spent on travel! Hitch-hike, cycle, walk, blag plane tickets, whatever!
For more details see the RAG Week mini site.
Collecting is done on behalf of Cancer Research UK, The Newman Holiday Trust and Practical Action.
