After a long weekend of pizza, beer, conversation and intensive marking, the 2008 Science Challenge committee have selected the six finalists from schools around the country.
The Imperial shortlist will be announced next Tuesday (18th) at the Grand Finals in the Science Museum. During the finals the 6 shortlisted students from each competition will then have to give a three minute presentation on their essay to impress the grand final panel, including Lord Robert Winston, Sir Richard Sykes, and Sir Brian Hoskins from Imperial and Dr Campbell, Editor-in-Chief of Nature, Dr Snaith, VP of Shell Global Solutions, and Pallab Ghosh, BBC Science. Everyone is welcome to attend this event for free at 6:30 in the IMAX theatre.
The six on the school's shortlist are:
- James Burke, Sherborne School
- Clare Garcin, Camden School for Girls
- Sarah Cunningham, South Hampstead High School
- Albert Beardow, Alexander May, Henry Chow and Samie Dorgham, Bedford School
- Hassan Al Halwachi, Sherborne School
- Haralambos Christos Dayantis, Poole Grammar School

After the presentations the judges will consider the presentations and select a winner from the Imperial and schools competitions, while ticket holders continue to the After Party. Once intense deliberations are over, the winners will be announced at this party.
