In an email circulated to key CGCU officers last night, Guilds President Tristan Sherliker has announced his resignation from the post. Sherliker cited academic reasons for the move, which has been recommended by his senior tutor. The normal workload of a final year student has been compounded by a number of personal problems, which has led to Sherliker's available time being cut, leading to both Guilds and his academic life taking a back seat.
Sherliker wished to highlight that he was happy to continue as Guilds President despite the recent no-confidence, but subsequent personal issues had led to him being unable to devote the time to Guilds that he had expected to.
The Guilds executive committee is expected to meet in short order to determine the next steps.
Nominations are now open for the re-run Guilds elections, which will decide next year's committee.
