A 33-year-old man who handed himself in to the police has been charged with the murder of Imperial UROP students Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez. The man, who was made to join a queue at the police station, handed himself in at the weekend with serious burns, initially being taken to hospital.
The two students were taking part in Imperial's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme, spending three months in the UK carrying out DNA research. They were due to return home later this month, but were found in the aftermath of a fire in a flat on 29th June. Both men had suffered horrific injuries.
The BBC is reporting that Nigel Edwards Farmer, 33, of no fixed address, has been charged with murder, arson and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
