Apologies to Paul and Alistair as they did actually submit on time but the Editor is incapable of dealing with Outlook.

Live! asked all of the candidates to supply a short introduction to themselves so you could work out who they were and what they were standing for.

I am currently a third year Mechanical Engineering student. I spend a lot of my time maintaining the City & Guilds inviolate motorised mascot, affectionately known as Bo?. You
might have seen me at the various events which the club has attended in Bo?, or more likely when we have been working on him outside our garage, opposite Beit Quad. I am also involved with the RCS and RSM motor clubs, which look after Jez and Clem.
When I am not lying underneath oily motor vehicles I can often be found in the City & Guilds office where I have helped to organise some of the events which we have already done this year, and I am also helping to arrange events which are still to come, and which should be the highlight of the year!
Ton van den Bremer
My name is Ton van den Bremer and I am a fourth year undergraduate in Civil Engineering. Dutch-born, I have lived in the UK little over three years.
I have previously been involved in the civil engineering departmental society CivSoc as treasurer and subsequently vice chair. Securing funding to allow the number of places for students on the CivSoc International Tour to be increased from 50 to 70 has been one of my main contributions. The tour has proven to be the highlight of the UG calendar for many undergraduates and has visited various unique engineering projects in Europe.
Furthermore, I am a fervent reader. Apart from the usual newspapers and journals to keep up-to-date, I try to read a lot of English and translated literature, both fiction and non-fiction. Politics and economics have my particular interest. I am also sometimes an enthusiastic runner and I enjoy sailing.

I?m a second year Mechanical Engineer, but I?ve been at Imperial three years now, having first done a year of Physics, before realising engineering is much cooler, and last year I took a year in industry. (But no, I?ve never failed a year!)
Since being at Imperial, I have been an active member of a number of clubs and societies; I work for felix ? firstly as sports editor and now covering clubs and societies as well as writing features. I?m a member of the RCS motor club, which maintains Jezebel, a 1916 fire engine and a college mascot. I play hockey for both Imperial and for RSM and am also a member of the London, University Royal Naval Unit. This year I will be involved with RAG, helping to organise lots of fun events that will hopefully raise lots of money for charity!

Civil Engineering Society
Vice-Chair
Paul Hofmeyr
I?m Paul Hofmeyr, a 3rd year Civil Engineer, and I come from the town of Reading, just outside London, rated the 408th best place to raise a family in the UK. I have spent most, if not all, of my days in and around this glorious commercial hub, but have managed to venture away a few times to visit the other parts of the globe, most recently returning from the South-East of Asia. I decided to come to Imperial because of its proximity to London and its world renowned status and am greatly enjoying university life. In my spare time I like to keep active by playing for the Imperial College hockey team amongst other things and my aim in life is to have fun at what you are doing and try to get the best out of it.
Paul Corry and Matthew Fitch have not submitted anything.

Mona Haghani and Alistair Garner
Only submitted photo.
"My name's Alistair and I'm in third year. I'm from Northampton, the home of the Express Lift Tower, which as you can see from its Wikipedia is a civil engineer's dream! I can only assume that's where my love of the subject originated... Aside from massive concrete towers, I enjoy photography, listening to and playing music, and computer games, as long as they're on a 360. I'm also a bit of a dinosaur fan and my favourite film is Jurassic Park, but don't tell anyone because it's pretty geeky."
Alexander Hall
Prior to starting Imperial, I grew up in Yorkshire where I gained an interest in engineering. However, being brought up as a member of an otherwise non maths-based family has given me a range of other passions. The greatest of these is an obsession with music. I am, as far as I know, the only member of the Imperial College String Ensemble from the Civ Eng department.
Many find it hard to believe, but I enjoy distance running ? recently a member of the winning team of the internal class of the 2008 Hyde Park Relays. My interest in literature is probably owing to my mother being an English teacher and I can frequently be found around college at lunch reading a novel or newspaper of one form or another. As a member of Team 'Bo, I can also often be found covered in oil and cursing in the garage opposite the Union.
