Amateur Footballer Killed at Harlington

An amateur footballer was killed in an attack at the Harlington Sports Facilities, after a Sunday League match.
Footballer attacked and killed at Harlington.

An attack after a match on Sunday, which was being played next door to Imperial's Harlington Sports Ground, has resulted in the death of an amateur footballer. The match took place at Little Harlington Playing Fields between Old Greenfordians and Kinghill Town. The footballer, 43-year-old Stephen Ritchie, sustained head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the mans death and they will be taken in front of the Old Bailey in March. Twenty year old Darren Forwood has been charged with murder while Brandon Thompson is up against charges of actual bodily harm.

The sports complex is home to a number of amateur teams aswell as Imperial College Union and the facilities cover a multitude of sports. Professional Football Team, Queens Park Rangers, also use the area for training on a regular basis.
