The CGCU elections have now ended and the results were announced at noon today.
The elections were being held to fill the vacant roles of President and Guildsheet editor, with both positions attracting a candidate who went on to be elected. Unfortunately, as with many student elections, there was a disappointingly poor turnout.
President
Dan LUNDY - 41 votes (ELECTED)
Re-Open Nominations (RON) - 23 votes
Guildsheet Editor
Richard BENNETT - 47 votes (ELECTED)
Re-Open Nominations (RON) - 18 votes
Mr Lundy will now lead the rest of the CGCU team right through until the end of July. During that time, the most important aspects that The City & Guilds College Union must focus upon include securing sponsorship for next year's committee and ensuring that Guilds is in good financial stead for the future.
Events that Guildsmen and women can look forward to this term include a Tri-Union bar night (with top comedians) on Friday 12th February, a formal dinner on Friday 19th February and a re-run of last term's highly successful CGCU Beer Festival sometime in March.
If you have any feedback for the incoming president then you can email guilds@imperial.ac.uk.
Meanwhile, Mr Bennett will find himself grappling with a computer to try his hand at producing an informative, humorous and enjoyable magazine for everyone in Guilds.
If you have any suggestions for Guildsheet, the student magazine of the Faculty of Engineering, or if your club or society is doing anything interesting, then please drop Richard a line on guildsheet@imperial.ac.uk.
