World Cup Campuses

As the World Cup kicks off with a draw for England over the weekend, we've got the latest on where you can watch the matches right here on campus!
The World Cup has begun and will run until the Final, on Sunay 11th July.

This article contains a list of places that you can watch the matches. This list is correct at the time of publishing.

Whether you're a member of college staff, a student doing revision, a PhD student frantically working on experiments and waiting (with great excitement) for all of the undergrads to disappear you'll probably be desperate to know how your team is doing during the FIFA World Cup - currently being held in South Africa.

For many employees this isn't so difficult. Whack the England matches on and hope the results don't hit staff morale too much.

At Imperial, with students and staff from all corners of the globe, it's not such an easy task... Showing all of the matches is a complex feat and working out where you can watch them is even harder. That's where we come in!

Staff

Imperial's stance on watching matches during working hours is that you should check with the manager of your department to see if flexible working is allowed. It may be worth staying an hour or two extra later in the day or arriving an hour earlier to see your favourite teams play.

Students

Postgraduates: it's worth checking with your supervisor first. If you've got plenty of time to spare then there's nothing to worry about.

Undergraduates: don't fail your exams for the sake of football, and try not to miss too many lectures!

Remember, if you're screening World Cup matches anywhere else on campus or know anyone who is then drop us a line! Catch us on .

Imperial College Union will be showing most of the matches. They have said that where two matches are scheduled for the same time then they'll show the one they deem to be "most important". Unfortunately, this means that a few of the final Group Stage matches won't be broadcast in college.

Don't forget to vote in our poll! Will England win the World Cup?

All your own work then?

hmm...now where are the plagiarism rules...?

Yes, "N". This list is more comprehensive than that one, containing all of the games so far announced by ICU (rather than only the evening ones, which that link also implies).

As this is an on-going piece we've invited members of the college to let us know about other screenings that may be happening on campus. This list has a great chance to be more comprehensive.

You can't call this "plagiarism" without suggesting that all of the other articles that Live! and felix (and whatever else) write with regards to election results, colours awards, etc, etc.

The Union will be showing the following games this week, as they are important for the group results:

23/06 15:00 Slovenia-England

19:30 Ghana-Germany

24/06 15:00 Slovak Rep-Italy

19:30 Denmark-Japan

25/06 15:00 Portugal-Brasil

19:30 Chile-Spain

The screen in the union is completely useless, especially during the day if it's sunny.
