Despite previous reports of severe delays C&G Media Group today launched a new events calendar for Live, reinforcing the publication's status as the premier student website at Imperial College. Originally targeted for completion on 22nd September, a frenzy of activity from C&G Media Group developers over the past few weeks has brought the calendar system on-line ahead of schedule. Robert Dimond, the Media Group developer responsible for much of the design for the calendar described the final calendar as "look[ing] great" while Oliver Pell, the person responsible for completing the system and bringing it on-line said that it "functioned exactly as originally intended." C&G Media Group would also like to thank Sam Sharpe, former Deputy President (Clubs & Societies) and C&G Council Chair, for invaluable assistance.
The events calendar is open to use for all organisations within Imperial College. Anyone can view events from the calendar and any Imperial student or staff member can add events (or edit events they have already entered) by logging in with their normal username and password.
The events calendar has displaced the "web mail login" and "search the web" capabilities from the Live front page. Current concept designs for the "new look" Live front page envisaged the removal of these options and C&G President Mustafa Arif commented that the Live team would now "monitor complaints/discussions to gauge how many people use those facilities".
The Media Group would welcome comments on the events calendar or any suggestions of new features for Live. They can be contacted by e-mail to webmaster@cgcu.net.
