A recent infestation of rodents and other vermin at the South Kensington campus has been a causing a great deal of trouble to students and, Live! can exclusively reveal, to the Rector himself.
During the past few months the amount of vermin living within the college's grounds seem to have been on the increase, despite pest control being on campus most days each week. Recently, whilst C&GCU President Mustafa Arif, was visiting the C&G Kart Club garage next to Linstead Hall, he was shocked to find that cockroaches were overrunning it.
Days later, Live! was informed that there was a problem in the Bo' Garage located on Prince Consort road. Whilst the Bo team were clearing out the area to create more storage space, they discovered that over 20 mice and many more cockroaches had decided to take up residence under the main workbench. This is hardly surprising since the garage unfortunately shares a building with the main rubbish compactor for ICU in Beit quad. Your correspondent has to wonder what ICU is disposing of in their rubbish!
However the most amazing find is that mice have found their way into 170 Queen's Gate, the official residence of the Rector - Sir Richard Sykes. Live! has been informed that mice have been found in the £40,000 kitchen, which was installed less than 10 months ago on the Rector's arrival at the college. The smell of dead rodents had apparently alerted the IC maintenance team to the problem, which they now hope to have rectified.
Live! can only hope that we can get rid of the rest of the rats at Imperial.
