Today?s digest of news stories featuring Imperial College, complied by the IC Press Office carried a link to an article entitled "The bomber from Brixton" which appeared in The Jerusalem Post on the 4th of January. The article details the events leading up to Richard Reid?s failed attempts to detonate explosives in the aircraft above the atlantic. The explosive that Richard Reid had inside his shoe is known as TATP (triacetone triperoxide). This explosive, which is used almost exclusively by Palestinian terrorists is the same as that found in the possession of Ex. Imperial Student, Palestinian, Samar Alami who was convicted for the bombing of the Israeli Embassy in London. The Embassy is located relatively close to the college, in Palace Green, just off South Kensignton High Street. Samar Alami, had studied for a MSc in chemical engineering Imperial College, following an undergraduate degree at UCL.
There are some who believe Samar Alami is innocent: this case is detailed on http://www.freesaj.org.uk
It has previously been reported on Live! that students are being screened for potential links to terrorists in an effort to stop UK universities from training terrorists.
