Wednesday night saw Boanerges' (one of C&G's mascots) first major run of his centenary year. It was probably fitting that he was also fulfilling his job as the official transport to the C&G president, Mustafa Arif, who confirmed it was his first time in Bo'.
The evening was hosted by the Lord Mayor at his official residence in the city, to thank people who had taken part in the Lord Mayor's Show last November. C&G restarted the tradition of entering a float in the show 2 years ago, and this year it was organised by Richard Tang.
Bo' arrived right on time, and Mustafa commented "It is more comfortable than travelling on the Tube!" (and probably more reliable!) Tom Williams, Bo' Driver this year, also had the opportunity to present the Lord Mayor with a letter that had been carried back from the Mayor of Brighton & Hove last November, on the annual veteran car club run.
The evening was a particular highlight for the new Lord Mayor, and two presenters from the BBC who were given a trip around the city in the C&G mascot. Bo' continued to run faultlessly throughout the evening, despite both his driver and co-driver being subjected to torrential rain while only wearing their suits!
Boanerges is maintained by the City & Guilds Motor Club, and Captain David Lamb told Live! "We think Bo' is great, and the guys who maintain him do an amazing job! We are a unique Motor club because we can offer IC students such a wide range of activities, from Veteran cars to Karting."
Team Bo meet on a Wednesday at the garage on Prince Consort Road opposite Beit Quad and the Albert hall. If you are at IC and interested in joining, then just turn up after 1pm or e-mail: bo100@cgcu.net
