A C&GCU Internship Centre launch event has once again packed out a college lecture theatre with students eager to take advantage of the 'free' jobs (and free food...). Despite starting slightly behind schedule the launch event was an almost total success - with C&GCU Internship Centre Co-ordinator Atul Rana demonstrating how to use the new and improved website.
Speaking at the launch C&GCU President Mustafa Arif praised the volunteers running the Centre and urged students to help them - citing his hope that the website would increase the number of jobs available from over 100 to over 1000 within a few months.
The launch event ended with the students free to enjoy the copious amounts of free food procured by C&GCU's catering department, though both Mr Arif and Mr Rana found themselves fielding questions from students interested in more details about the Centre, or about helping to run it.
Despite still running on the C&GCU 'backup' web server since the launch the Internship Centre website has been the usual buzzing hive of activity. Server statistics made available by the C&GCU Media Group show that data traffic for the C&GCU server over 48 hours on Thursday and Friday was equivalent to over a third of the load on the 'main' ICU webserver - despite the fact that the ICU server serves over 300 club and society websites as well as the main 'corporate' ICU site. After its last minute launch at 1:55am on Thursday the site has experienced a series of niggling technical problems that have led to a small number of students being unable to login. Most of these are believed to now be resolved, though the site still sports a message asking students experiencing problems to contact the C&GCU webmasters (webmaster@cgcu.net).
