The first international pub crawl organised by RAG took place on Saturday, with 8 teams entering, and hoping to get “around London in 80 units”. The aims were simple: Have a great day out in London sampling new pubs, and to raise lots of money for RAG.
Starting at noon on Saturday from the union, the 8 teams made their way to Gloucester Road, and then right across London to Camden, Leicester Square, Convent Garden, and Westminster. With continual live coverage by IC Radio throughout the day, teams were kept up to date with the progress of other competitors, as well as helping to make an amusing radio show!
C&G entered a double team of 8 people, and decided to take “Spanner” the City and Guilds College mascot around London with them. The guilds team managed to make it to Soho, before half the team decided that they didn’t want to stop and watch the Rugby, and split from the main group. This left a hardcore team of 4 guildsmen to carry on with the pub crawl, and look after Spanner.
Unconfirmed reports from an insider at RAG have suggested that the pub crawl raised over £1000 on Saturday, which will bring the current RAG total to over £3000. The winning team will be announced on Wednesday at around 10pm at ICU, and will receive 4 Eurostar tickets to Paris courtesy of STA travel.
Be sure not to miss the other events that will be happening thought the week for RAG. The C&G slave auction will be taking place during Tuesday lunchtime in the JCR, and the invasion of London on Wednesday. More details can be found at the RAG website.
