RAG week is now fully underway and with thousands of pounds already raised everything is going extremely well. That was until yesterday when City and Guilds College Union found out that their fund raising ideas had been given the thumbs down by ICU in Beit Quad.
One of the many C&G fundraising ideas is the "Hit Squad", which in previous years has been a huge success, and also a money-spinner for RAG. "Hit Squad" is a service allowing IC students and staff to order flanning of other members of college, for the small sum of £10 for students and £20 for staff. Included in the price is also a copy of a photograph that is taken at the time that the victim is hit with the custard pie.
However this year ICU Sabbaticals have refused to take part in this activity, despite nearly all C&G departments allowing it to take place, and DoC giving blanket permission for students and staff to be hit without any prior permission. Live! suspects that this point blank refusal by the ICU sabbs, is possibly because some members of the Beit towers are particularly worried about being repeatedly flanned, due to their unpopularity amongst current students.
Live! has also learnt that this matter may be brought up at this evening's meeting of ICU Council, the sovereign decision making body of Imperial College Union. Bob has to wonder if they have lost touch with IC, sitting in their thrones in the infamous Beit Towers.
Those interested in ordering hits on sabbs (or any other staff or students) can order the hits from the C&GCU Office (Room 340 Mech Eng).
