Civ Soc Election Re-Run

Mar 19 2002 19:42
Oliver Pell
The C&GCU Executive Committee has ordered the election for Civ Soc President to be re-run.
Munkey will not be standing as a candidate.

The City & Guilds College Union Executive Committee today ordered the election for the Civil Engineering Society President to be re-run. Results from the election have not been announced, although those for the remainder of the Civ Soc committee are available on-line.

The decision was made in light of complaints regarding an e-mail circulated to the members of the Civil Engineering department promoting one of the candidates. This is against union election regulations. The Executive judged the violation of the regulations to be "serious, but not persistent." With an established precedent that only serious and persistent violation of the regulations is sufficient to warrant disqualification of a candidate the Executive was left only with the options of ratifying the election result or re-running the election. The issue was judged serious enough to have possibly influenced the result leading to the decision to re-run the election.

With scant few days left until the end of term, the Executive Committee decided that voting should take place on Thursday and Friday of this week. The decision could still be appealed to C&GCU Council.

What exactly are you guys doing with that munkey in the office?, maybe I shouldn't ask.

Slightly off topic but - will you be hiring out Munkey to work on the LEQ system before the Autumn? I'm sure he wouldn't mind joining people of his own species to develop it.

Why the suggestion? The LEQ seems totally broken - I can't see it either VPNed in or SSHed into a DoC machine. Good start :).

Where did you get that microphone from?

Mar 20 2002 11:56

It was stolen from A&E, Gus...

Actually it's a stock photo from the C&G Media Group archive. The microphone may, or may not, exist at all.

Rest assured the A&E hordes will be dispatched to assess if the microphone exists and what its origin is...

The results of the re-run election have now been ratified and are available online.
