“Francis” wins Munkey poll

Mar 25 2002 16:06

Public opinion has declared that the C&G munkey should be known as “Francis”.
It's yet another picture of Munkey. And we've got plenty more where this came from!

Despite strong competition (principally from New Election) the recent Live! poll has determined that the C&G munkey should be known as "Francis". The name appears to have triumphed against the early C&G favourite of "Sen". "We were looking forward to having Sen sitting in the corner of the office," said one C&G figure, "we thought it might be, you know, inspiring." Apparently the thought of having Francis keeping everyone under constant surveillance was welcomed with slightly less warmth. "It doesn't make any sense," complained someone who this correspondant will thoughtfully not name, "we like munkey!".

Questions are already being raised about just how long the C&G Media Group can stretch out the munkey story as a source of news, polls and other assorted rubbish. Apparently the Media Group are reckoning that munkey-related stories will at the very least tide Live! through the normally barren and news-less expanse of the Easter vacation. Exclusive pictures of the C&GCU munkey meeting the RCSU Womble have yet to be released to the public - apparently held up while Media Group hacks try desperately to make up some sort of convenient storyline to accompany them.

That picture is almost as good as a certian other picture.

Also good to see he's wearing his SIV (Simian Immunodeficiency Virus) ribbon - very important...

At least Francis can win one election ...

Mar 26 2002 12:57

R-E-F-E-R-E-N-D-U-M. He lost a referendum.

A great many people can win elections.

Hell, even *I* can win elections; in fact, I have still won more elections than I've lost :)

I think the comments are a little unfair. David Francis was, afterall, *elected* as Deputy President (Education & Welfare).

I believe he was also RAG Treasurer at some point, which presumably involved some sort of election.

And I hear he's going for ULU Council Chair.

You are very harsh to this poor bloke. Get a twin Munkey out who is called Sen.

Apologies ... as always we only remember the failures, not all the fantastic acomplishments made. I was clearly wrong.

Mar 26 2002 18:00

ULU Council Chair eh? God knows why anyone would want that job! :)

Also up for grabs is Small & Specialist Students' Officer... I would run for Large & General Students' Officer but it doesn't exist - an oversight, Andy?

awww poor "Francis"... lol

and if that's the real Owain James, then god you're a twat... and to be honest, it was the NUS who lost the referendum, not the DPEW. :-)

Mar 28 2002 16:28

Maybe the Munkey should be known as "Bankrupt". Or "NUS". Tends to be about the same these days...

It's not the real Owain James. But it was left in as we thought it was: a) an attempt at humour; b) obvious to anyone that it was not him.

(The same reasons why we don't remove the odd message purporting to be from the Rector, or Tony Blair.)

So long as everyone is made aware that impersonating The Queen or any of Her viceroys is actually treason :P

I am sure that nice Mr Blair doesn't speak for the Queen so... :-D

I knew it wasn't the real Owain James (honest), I just

a) wanted to point out he was a twat

b) was bored and had nothing better to do

c) I was being a bit dense.

all of the above really...

Actually Neil, you are the biggest twat in the history of the world.

Neil,

I forgot to say that I say you the other day and not only are you 'dense' but incrediably ugly as well...
