City & Guilds College’s vintage vehicle mascot Boanerges has returned from his historic trip to Paris in typically low key fashion. Bo’ slipped back to College over the weekend on his trailer after making it all the way to the French capital on his own power - although Bo’ Driver Tom Williams admitted that some emergency roadside machining was necessary to keep the Guilds’ mascot in working order.
The original (somewhat ambitious) plans for a “web diary” of Bo’s progress appear to have floundered slightly. Updates for the first two days of the expedition appeared on the web relatively quickly, but no others followed. The Bo 100 website appears to indicate that future reports would be appearing shortly, but they never did. Writing in a Live! discussion forum after their return, Mr Williams assigned blame for the lack of updates squarely at the lack of internet proliferation across the channel. “Internet cafes were hard to find,” he said yesterday.
Live! has come into possession of a large number of pictures from the trip and the preceding Centenary Event at Gaydon, which we’ll doubtless be trying to find reasons to slowly release over the slow summer news months...
