Sunday 3rd November will see Bo' head off to Brighton on the annual VCC car run. After uncertainty over whether he would go this year, the issue has now been resolved. Due to the transport chaos at ICU, an emergency meeting of Exec on Monday authorized the difference in cost of another towing vehicle to be met by the union.
This year will see Sir Noel Davies following in Sir Richard Sykes' footsteps as the guest of honour traveling in the back of Bo' to Brighton. Sir Noel, now Chairman of Ricardo, was one of the Bo' drivers back in the 1950's.
He told Live!: "The journey on Sunday will be a reminder of happy years at Imperial during the 50s. I'm delighted to see how well Bo' has been maintained over the last 50 years."
Dan Lehmann, who will be driving Bo' to Brighton this year told Live! "The weather looks good at the moment for the run, and we hope to see lots of supporters out to cheer us on, especially since it is Bo's centenary year."
Rumours have it that Bo' will be receiving a birthday cake when he gets to the finish at Brighton, as well as passing on a letter of goodwill from the Lord Mayor of London to the Mayor of Brighton & Hove again.
After Brighton Bo' will then be the centre piece of this year's Lord Mayor's Show entry the following weekend.
Bo' will be leaving Hyde Park just before 8am on Sunday, and the Motor Club suggest you are on the North side of the Serpentine by 7:30am to make sure you don't miss Bo' leaving.
Transport is leaving from behind Linstead at 8:30am - so turn up if you want to go to Brighton.
