Twenty-three students and alumni turned out at a dinner to celebrate the third birthday of Live! yesterday evening. Organised by former C&G Honorary Secretary Neil Madhvani the dinner had been in planning for several weeks. After a successful second birthday bash last year, expectations were high for this year's event which was once again hosted at the New Cavendish Club and no-one was disappointing.
With a guestlist that included a former Imperial College Union President, two former Deputy Presidents, countless members of the City & Guilds College Union Executive Committee and at least a dozen future sabbaticals, several of those present quipped that if the roof fell in it would be practically the end of Imperial College Union. Well, for a few weeks anyway...
Media Baron Mustafa Arif was his usual flippant self, deviating from his requested speech on Live! itself to spend the whole time talking about the event organiser instead. Mr Madhvani's only reply could be to call the Boomalaka, which he duly did before the party retired to the bar - pausing only for a brief more serious speech from Mr Andy Heeps (for it is he).
Anyone wishing to organise the inevitable Fourth Birthday Party should probably start now.
