Unique photo opportunity for Sir Richard

Sir Richard Sykes has taken an innovative approach to employee recognition. Instead of the usual rewarding of employees that a normal "Employee Recognition" program would entail, the Rector of Imperial College,London has decided that he is not recognised well enough by members of staff.

Recognition is reportedly lowest in the key group of "Ladies, Under 35, Single - Working in Sherfield". The measures taken by the IC PR Office are startlingly direct -they have plastered images of the Rector in the most surprising positions in the Sherfield Building. An anonymous correspondent (who bizarrely takes a digital camera with her to the conveniences) has supplied us with evidence of Sir Richard appealing to Female staff with a picture of himself inside the Ladies Toilets (Level 3 Sherfield)...

New Ball Website

This year's Summer Ball has already been highly publicised, however so far for the wrong reasons. "Contradictions", appears to be an apt title for the event since the website that advertised it was exactly that, being in fact last year's. It appears that Sen Ganesh who recently had the title "Summer Ball Gimp" on his office door, revamped it earlier this week. The site however still contains contradictions in the form of the description of the ball to prospective sponsors . Live! has been told that this year the outdoor stage with live bands has been binned in favour of a Jazz Marquee, primarily to reduce costs.

Pell endorses sweatshops

New shiny C&G regalia has finally arrived to replace the 1980's stock that has reached it's use by date. The new jackets arrived by post on Wednesday from somewhere overseas. Oliver Pell (C&G Regalia Shop Manger), refused to comment on where they had come from, except for saying that they were value for money. Live! however has heard rumours of a South African sweatshop, since Mr Pell has never been a supporter of fair trade. Sam Sharpe, ex. CGCU Council Chair and notorious hack, described Mr Pell as "Cheap".

Actually, it was the anonymous correspondent's colleague who took the picture, using the joys of a camera phone...

'the website that advertised it was exactly that, being in fact last year's'

ah but that was only sorted after the advertising had been released, the link originally went to stuff about election hustings...

Get this, it's advertised as a four course, but the tickets page is a three course (i take from last year).

I dont think much of the description on the dinner page either.....when's the menu out ?

May 10 2003 14:48

looks like someone discovered 'copy and paste' but has yet to discover 'edit' and 'cut'. (ticket page mentions a stage...)

"more errors" yes. you have. I think you will find the union offices on level 1

Oh well...

I would imagine the regalia would be more 1970s than 80s. You see, I don't think David Bowie would be seen dead in it :P

A bit like this link still does?

If you want a really bad website though, try http://union.ic.ac.uk/medic/

Actually gary, that's a little unfair, because if you type

/events/anythingyoulikehere/

it will direct you to the default page, which happens to be the news section - now stop bitching and do some project work or something.

ah. ok, I'll let you off then ;-). For some reason IE seemed to remember that link from some point in the past.

May 14 2003 17:53

Yes, because /summerball used to redirect to /events/summerball.

So it *is* Sam's fault and you (Gary) should not let him off.

The summerball website is probably quite fitting - I reckon the summerball is going to reflect the website perfectly: bland, boring and a generally poor attempt.
