The notorious C&G Hit Squad has been a crucial ingredient of ICU RAG since as long as we can remember. Last year, Hit Squad raised roughly £500 for charity. And most of us will probably recall the Sir Richard Sykes, Rector of Imperial College, agreed to be flanned for £150 at Wye College. In the past, ICU and C&GCU Presidents were also among the hot targets.
This year is no exception. Chris McIver was appointed to co-ordinate the Hit Squad. Hopes were high to raise more money for charity. However some Heads of Department have shown discontent to such approach for RAG. Having had some careful considerations, the Faculty Exec decided to prohibit any flanning within any lecture theatre or department.
"Faculty certainly has every right to ban Hit Squad. However I feel that this means we will just have to have more fun in other areas of the college" explained a senior C&G spokesperson. Several hits have taken place already at events such as hustings and International Night. Anyone who wishes to place an order can visit the Guilds Office, room 340 in the Mech Eng building, during lunchtime or contact Chris McIver.
There are other C&GCU RAG events which have been organised: Party on the Lawn on Monday, RAG Raid on Wednesday, and the Barbershop Quartet and Hit Squad will be active for the whole week.
