Live! Launches Sabbatical Competition

Predict the next sabbatical team correctly and win a £10 Amazon voucher in Live!'s sabbatical election competition.

There are so many candidates in the sabbatical elections this year, including newcomers to the Union political scene, that we thought some help was needed to identify them. As a bit of extra fun, Live! is also offering a £10 Amazon voucher as a prize.

From this page you can download a PDF file containing two pages: a set of photographs for all the sabbatical election candidates and some instructions and key election dates. Print out the photo page and take it with you to hustings and around College, so you can easily identify the candidates when they bribe you with sweets/doughnuts/badges/kittens.

On the 23rd February, when voting opens, decide how you think each candidate will do and rank them, with 1 being the winner, 2 being the first runner-up etc.

Write your ranking in the boxes under each photo so you remember. Then, email a list of candidates for each position in the order you have ranked them to editor@cgcu.net. See the second page of the PDF for an example. One entry per person please.

Results

We will start with the 1st placed candidates and select everyone who predicted them correctly. We then move on to the 2nd placed candidates and eliminate anyone who got that wrong. So on until we've reached the loser in the Presidential election or there?s only one person left.

If more than one person is left at the end, we'll pick randomly. We will expect to see your filled-in form if you win, just to prove you were carrying our advertising around. The winner will receive a £10 Amazon voucher.

Caveat: We need more than 20 entries (from different people) to award the Amazon voucher, if we do not reach that the winner will receive a lovely CGCU t-shirt instead.

As far as I can see, there is no limit on the number of entries per person...

Excluding RON there are 6x4x2x2x3=288 possible combinations of Sabbatical officers next year.

Assuming all those participating have an equal chance of winning, this should prove a hard contest for anyone to win outright.

You don't have to win it outright: if we've eliminated as many people as we can without reducing the number to zero, the people remaining will be entered into a draw.

If you want to enter this competition, you need to do so in the next couple of days. Results are likely then, despite the continuing farce.

Entries after Thursday at 6pm may not be considered.
