Pre-Eggstravaganza Hype

Feb 11 2002 21:32
Guilds
Excitement building up in anticipation of the return of the Great Egg Race, guaranteeing some top entertainment this Wednesday.
Last year's winning team - with their successful flying contraption - from IC Gliding Club.

The C&G Events team have confirmed that C&G Egg Race 2002 will be taking place this Wednesday afternoon as advertised.

The Egg Race requires teams of 5 people to build a device that will carry an egg from the Queen’s Tower to the ground safety. This is made slightly trickier by the fact the teams have to make the flying device from materials supplied by the C&G Events team.

If you haven’t seen the posters, or been given a flyer by one of the events team, then here is a brief description of what will be happening:

1pm - Meeting for all teams in Mech Eng 220 Lecture Theatre, for an introduction to the Egg Race from Imperial College’s resident world-authority on paper aircraft Andy Chipling. This is followed by free food and soft drinks for all entrants. After some time to build the egg carrying devices, they will then be tested from the Queen’s Tower! A paper Aircraft competition will be held after the main egg race competition.

Tickets are £5 for a team of 5 for the Egg Race, and £1 for the paper Aircraft competition afterwards. If you want to buy a ticket then either go to Waterstones, ICU reception, the Guilds office (Mech Eng 340), or on the day (but the availability may be limited nearer the time!). If you have any questions then go to the C&G Office, or e-mail: .net

Lets put a Rob Park slight on it, shall we?...

The ICU Council Events team have confirmed that the ICU CCU Race 2002 will be taking place this Wednesday afternoon as advertised.

The CCU Race requires teams of 43 people to vote to built a Union that will represent an student from one end of the campus to the other safety. This is made slightly trickier by the fact the teams have to make quorum and other tricky decisions such as whether to represent their current constituents of not and also to be able to put up with "institutionalised deputy presidents" with materials supplied by the ICU Events team.

If you haven?t seen the posters, or been given a flyer by one of the events team, or even any information by any ICU or CCU officer then here is a brief description of what will be happening:

1pm - Meeting for all teams in the Union Dining Hall, for an introduction to the CCU Race from Imperial College?s resident world-authority on rubber-stamps Sen Ganesh. This is followed by free adjournments and challenged to quorum for all entrants. After some time to build the ICU representative devices, they will then be tested from Level 5!

Tickets are priceless for a team of 5 for the CCU Race, and an ArtSoc budget for the challenge to quorum afterwards. If you want to buy a ticket then either boil your head, suck eggs, process a claim in the ICU Finance Office, burn Guilds office (Mech Eng 340), or on the day (but the availability may be limited nearer the time!) kebab Sir Richard Sykes. If you have any questions then go to the ICU Council Office, or e-mail: .uk

That plane was modelled on the 496 glider from the IC Gliding club. It rests proudly by the airfield now. This Aero eng domination has to be broken this time, goddamit!
