News Feeds

What are news feeds?

News feeds, also known as "RSS feeds", are a way to be told when new articles or other content appears on your favourite websites. By using them you can avoid visiting websites just in case something new happens and wait to be notified instead.

The BBC has a very good explanation of news feeds on their website.

How do I use them?

At the heart of RSS is a "feed reader" - you can get these as programs to install on your PC, or web-based ones which you can view wherever you have an internet connection. Within your feed reader you can "subscribe" to many websites, then use that rather than visiting the websites all the time.
